What’s God going to say to my questions? I’m braced for the worst. I’ll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I’ll wait to see what God says, how he’ll answer my complaint. And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time. Habakkuk 2:1-3 MSG
I’ve been given prophetic words in the past, words that I heard with my ears and received in my spirit, but felt as if they must be talking about someone else. Have you ever felt like that? You know you’re called to something much bigger than yourself. You have passion for God that others think is too radical. Things that you’ve read in the Word has expanded your thinking and you know God has included you but you have no idea how, where, what, why or when it’s going to happen.
In the process, you’ve learned Gods voice and stepped out in faith to obey instructions that made no sense in the natural. When someone asked why you did that, you shrug your shoulders and respond, “Because God asked me to.” You’ve seen eye rolling taken to a whole other level. You’ve heard the snickers of friends and family alike as they shake their head and say, “Guess they’ll just have to learn the hard way!” But you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were obedient, even after your own thoughts scream in your ears, “You’re so stupid! When will you ever learn? God didn’t say that! You don’t hear His voice! He doesn’t speak like that anymore!” But you know! Regardless of what things look like or feel like or sound like, you know!
If this is you and you’re in the span of time between obedience to what you heard and the manifestation of promise, let me take a moment to encourage you. Hang on because there’s a rumbling going on. I hear the Spirit of the Lord say, “I’m pulling them together, my remnant, my bride. You’re not in this alone, for there are many more like you. Don’t be discouraged or downhearted. Don’t give up and quit! You’re not running this race alone.
“Just as Elijah stood exhausted from the good fight in the cave at Horeb where I told him he was not alone, but there were 7000 others who had not bowed to the god of this world, so you my sons and daughters are also not alone. And just as a body is linked together by cells, blood, tissue and bone, so are you linked with others for my purposes.
“The rumbling you hear, is the dry bones coming together to form a mighty army of men and women all around the world. Every nation, every tribe and tongue, who are filled with my Spirit and are willing to obey my voice, these are those who I will use in this last day. My timing. My Kingdom coming, my will being done on this earth as it is in Heaven.”
In my wildest dreams, I couldn’t imagine being included on anything of this magnitude. It’s mind bending, scary and cool all at the same time. I’m awaiting instructions and am confident that He who began a good work in me is faithful to complete it. I’ll continue to run this race that is before me, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
So be it!
