Be That Reminder

in unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord, and when they raised their voices accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other musical instruments, and when they praised the Lord saying, “He indeed is good for His kindness is everlasting,” then the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not rise to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God. 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 NASB

At times, I will read something in the Word as an answer to something that I’ve been asking the Lord to explain to me. If you’ll indulge me, I’d like to share something I’ve noticed happening to me personally over the past several months. Something I’ve experienced throughout my life, but could never put into words.

I’ll be in conversation with someone and begin to mention what an awesome and mighty God we serve and suddenly, I feel goose bumps coursing over my flesh in waves as if the Spirit of God who lives in me, is moved by the words I’m speaking. Crazy, right? Yet it’s happening more and more frequently.

Last week while at work, a particular patient came up to the window to check in. As always, I exchanged pleasant conversation with her, accompanied by my normal smile. She made a comment about how good God is and it ignited the fire inside of me. I begin to sing the song, “If God has been so good to you, you ought to praise Him. If God has been so good to you, you ought to praise Him. If God has been so good to you, (jumping to my feet) you ought to stand up on your feet and praise and magnify the Lord for He’s the one who set you free. Praise Him! Praise Him!”

She clapped her hands together with tears in her eyes she said, “Oh my dear, thank you for the reminder! I’d become so consumed with my problems I’d forgotten just how good God has been to me.”

Last night I carried Walt’s suitcase down through the corridor of the hospital where he’s been in rehab for the past 2 weeks. There in the hall was a man I had seen several times, part of the housekeeping crew who always smiles and nods. Some distance away he called out, “Going home today?”

“Tomorrow,” I replied. “Just taking this home tonight.”

His voice rang out in the hall, “God is good!” and I responded, “Always! He’s always good! Forever faithful, even if we’re not. His mercies are new each and every morning.”

I could see it in his eyes and feel it in my spirit, the tangible glory of God coming over us in that moment as we took the time to acknowledge His goodness. Just as the singers and musicians in unity began to proclaim Gods goodness and it ushered in His presence so that the priests and ministers couldn’t stand.

It’s the ‘new’ thing God is doing in the earth. He’s igniting the passion that burns in us all so that each time we open our mouths to magnify His name, He fills His temple, the one not made by hands, with His glory. It’s out of that reminder that true revival breaks forth, not in a building made by hands and not by one man as in times past, but a mighty outpouring through those willing to be bold wherever they are. Walking in a hospital, walking on a bridge, working out in a gym, doing your job, eating your lunch, wherever you happen to be, fanning the flames to create a roaring fire.

Be The Reminder,

Sandy G
