The young woman pleased him and gained his favor so that he accelerated the process of the beauty treatments and the special diet that she received. He assigned seven hand-picked female servants to her from the palace and transferred her and her servants to the harem’s best quarters. Esther 2:9 CSB
I love it when the Lord drops a word in my spirit and marinates it. According to dictionary.com, the meaning of the word accelerate is as follows: To cause faster or greater activity, development, progress, advancement, to hasten the occurrence of; to change the velocity of (a body) or the rate of (motion); to move or go faster; increase in speed; to progress or develop faster.
Well why not, Lord! Let me throw this down and see who picks it up.
When the favor of the Lord is on you, it accelerates the process you’re in so that where God has ordered your path to take you, will show up in His timing for His purpose. I know that’s a mouthful, but hear me out.
Esther wasn’t Esther before she was captured and ‘imprisoned’. She was a Jewish orphan named Hadassah who lived with her uncle, Mordecai. His history was just as important as hers because with God, everything has purpose. It was a divine set-up that he was there. Read the story for yourself in Esther 2:5-7.
Esther did not reveal her ethnicity or her family background, because Mordecai had ordered her not to make them known. Sometimes what we want to say isn’t what we should say. Sometimes keeping our mouth shut allows God to speak for us. Sometimes it’s not about us, but about something much bigger then us.
Esther, aka Hadassah, was one of hundreds, perhaps thousands of girls brought in. Hats off to the guy in charge of all of those girls! Can you imagine the fear, tears and emotions of hundreds of girls in one place? They had just been yanked from their families and the safety of home. Um, I had two daughters and survived their teenage years. Any more and they would have had to commit me to an asylum!
My friend, God has a plan for your life that far exceeds your ability to imagine. He may have pointed you in the general direction, and at times along the way, you’ve probably wondered if He forgot you. He has not! Press on! He knows right where you are and where you’re going. The favor on your life is about to show up in ways you never dreamed possible.
His favor will shine a spotlight on you when it’s time to accelerate you to the next phase of your journey. Distance yourself from those who try to keep you in a place you were only asked to rest up in. We’re not done with our race until Jesus takes us home to be with Him. Don’t compare where you are to where someone else is. Your race is toward Christ so keep moving and pick up others who need what you have along the way.
Thank You Lord for constantly directing each step I take and taking me on this great journey with You. I trust You! Your purpose and plans are amazing and I’m glad we’re doing it together. One day at a time, one step at a time, one moment at a time. It’s all for You anyway so I’m humbled and strengthened and rejuvinated in Jesus’ name, Amen.
