What Kind Of Fruit’s On Your Tree?

Unknown

Love-it’s clearly used too loosely today. We love our cell phone, love that chicken, love our job. Love your post! Love that dress! Love your husband! WHAT? Okay, steady now! You can really like my husband, but hands off! He’s MINE!

When words become loose or common, they lose their power or ability to really mean what they are suppose to mean. You can ‘like’ something, that’s cool. You can even really like something or someone and they get it. But when we use the word love, this word should be reserved for what we truly love or value.

God is love and He commands us to love one another. Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 NIV

So the Love that God is, sets us apart from others. The kind of love Jesus was referring to was the unconditional, sacrificial, non-judgmental, non-critical, all encompassing, open and honest, grace filled, non-decending, powerfully life changing Love. It’s the Love He saw in heaven and attempted to demonstrate here in the earth. He knew that if He could give us a taste, we would be hungry for more.

We are all a work in progress on this race called life, but let me assure you of this one thing, it’s Love that changes lives. Not the love of this world, but the deep Love of God. That Love changes me from a sinner to a saint. That Love died for me so I could know His Fathers Love. That’s the ultimate sacrifice! That’s Love.

This old hymn just popped into my mind. Simple, powerful and profound; “Such Love, such wondrous love. Such Love, such wondrous love. That God would love a sinner such as I, how wonderful is Love like this.”

Jesus said that people would know us by the fruit we bear. If you’re not dropping Love off the branches of your tree, you’re at risk of being cut down and tossed into the fire. If not you, He will raise up those who will. If your life has been radically changed by the Love of God, it’s time to exhale love, not just inhale.

Love You Father! Give me another chance to show others how they too can experience this deep and rich Love that You are. Forgive me for using the term ‘love’ but not demonstrating it to all that cross my path. My words may hold power, but my actions put my words into play. At harvest time, I want my fruit to be displayed in Your basket. It’s in Jesus’ name, Amen.
