‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11

This is how God shapes your future, He is constantly speaking over you. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

You may say, “Sandy, these words were spoken over the prophet Jeremiah!” You’re right, they were. But they were also meant for you. God saw you long before you were born because your spirit was born of His Spirit. He has planned for your future, it’s just up to you to believe it, receive it and live it out.

Walt and I were blessed with two daughters. When they were born, we realized that we have the power and authority to shape their future with our words. We could always speak what we saw, or we could speak what HE saw them to be. It was our choice but we chose to see them as God did and speak that into their future.

They may not be perfect yet, but in Gods eyes, they are headed in that direction. Why? Because we continually speak His Word into them and over them. As they grew up, we taught them about the Word and we had the promise that regardless of what they go through or the choices they make, they won’t depart or stray long term from the Truth of Gods Word.

So often I see parents who get so fixated on what is happening, their focus determines what they speak over them. Don’t do it! If you have done it even out of their hearing, STOP! Speak the Word of God over them regardless of what they seem to be doing at the present. You have a God given responsibility to shape their future with your words.

Just as God shaped Jeremiah into the prophet He needed him to be, so your words have the power to shape the future of those God has planted around you. I repeat, your words hold the power to shape those God’s placed around you. Don’t get caught up in calling them stupid because they’re making bad choices. Choose to speak the Word over them and watch God turn them around.
