After this, the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat. Messengers came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army from Edom is marching against you from beyond the Dead Sea. They are already at Hazazon-tamar.” (This was another name for En-gedi.)
Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. So people from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek the Lord’s help. 2 Chronicles 20:1-4 NLT
Have you ever received scary news? So scary that you became filled with fear? That’s what happened to King Jehoshaphat when he received news that 3 powerful nations were coming to annihilate the people of Israel.
Listen to a part of the kings prayer: “And now see what the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those nations when Israel left Egypt, so they went around them and did not destroy them. Now see how they reward us! For they have come to throw us out of your land, which you gave us as an inheritance.”
I don’t know who you are that needs to hear this right now, nor do I know what kind of scary enemy you face today but let me remind you, the God you serve is greater than the scary enemy that stands in front of you. It’s time you remember that the one who is in you is greater, far greater than anything you’re looking at in the natural.
I tell fear to flee! I speak to my flesh, don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid for the battle is not yours but it’s Gods! My God is bigger and greater and He loves me too much to leave me. You may have scared me, but I ran to my Fathers arms because He will never leave me or forsake me.
Perhaps the reason God told the people of Israel to leave them alone back then is because He knew what they would do in the future and don’t you know that God knows sometimes we just need to be reminded that God doesn’t need help with the battle, He just needs our praise.
I praise You mighty God because fear will not hold me back from what You have planned for me. There’s nothing that can stand before You. Cancer can’t stand before You so we worship You, cancer Victor! Lack can’t stand before You so we worship You God who is more then enough. Sickness can’t stand before You so we worship You God our healer. It’s for Your glory in the name above all names, Jesus-Amen.
