Our biggest problems can be traced back to an inadequate understanding of who God is. Our problems seem really big because our God seems really small. In fact we reduce God to the size of our biggest problem. Mark Batterson
I posted this last night on FaceBook but it has been stirring inside of me all night. How big is God to you? It seems our minds have no reference point. Our biggest imagination even dwarfs this mind blowing God. His ways are not our ways nor are His thoughts our thoughts.
You see, the very things we think impossible, show that we do not know nor do we truly trust this God we cannot see with our eyes but have come to know in our hearts. Even our understanding of His love is based on our own perceptions and opinions. Our past experiences have jaded us. We’ve allowed these things to shrink God down to a very small god in a very distant place.
Now I’m about to blow your mind if you’ll allow it;
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? I Corinthians 6:19
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
Ok, this is what I want you to understand as you read this; There is absolutely nothing bigger then God and He is in you. Every problem you face is a speck compared to Him. Every crisis, every diagnosis, every bit of lack-tiny. God cared enough about the things you’d face, that He empowered you to face it with HIS Spirit. He gave you power over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you. He did not leave you helpless, He sent His Spirit!
Our problems aren’t that big, they pale in comparison to Who is in us, we just don’t believe it. If we’d put as much energy into knowing and believing God as we do focusing on the problem we face, NOTHING would be impossible for us. Jesus said to believe, for there is nothing impossible to those who do.
Wow God! Please forgive us for focusing so hard on the problems in our lives that we’ve lost sight of You. We’ve allowed those things to be so big that we’ve lost track of where You are. My hope is in You. My strength is in You. I will lift up my head for a better look and remind myself of Your promises to me. You made me in Your image and likeness, gave me power to overcome everything I face, so I commit to walk in that power and authority today and every day. It’s in Jesus’ name, Amen.
