Yahweh, the Lord.

Exodus 34:5-7, Then the Lord came down to him in a cloud, stood there with Moses, and spoke his own name.  That is, the Lord passed in front of Moses and said, “Yahweh, the Lord, is a kind and merciful God. He is slow to become angry. He is full of great love. He can be trusted. He shows his faithful love to thousands of people. He forgives people for the wrong things they do, but he does not forget to punish guilty people. Not only will he punish the guilty people, but their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren will also suffer for the bad things these people do.”

I just love how God revealed himself to Moses as a kind and merciful God. He doesn’t want to be known as a bully or abusive father. He wants us to know who he really is. If we’re sick, He’s a healer. If we are in need, He’s our provider. If we need safety, He’s our shelter. When we’re in danger, He’s our deliverer. When we’re sinking, He’s our sure foundation. He’s our cloud to cover us on a hot summers day. He’s our song to sing at midnight. He’s our shout in the middle of battle. Oh, hallelujah!

Just writing about who God is makes me want to jump, shout for joy, lift up a mighty woot woot! There is no one like my God. He told us that He can be trusted. How many people out there need a God that can be trusted? That doesn’t mean He’s your puppet on a string to do your bidding. It means that what He’s promised, He will do! When He says, “I will provide!”, you can take that to the bank. Maybe not in YOUR time, but in His time, so that He will get the glory and man will know that there’s no one like our God.

I hope that this word follows you all day long. That in the middle of what you’re facing, you will allow God to reveal himself to you as whatever you need. May His peace that passes understanding, guard your heart and mind. As you think on Him today, may you be overwhelmed by His deep love and tender mercies that are yours for the taking. Whatever you need, He is. Wherever you go, He’s there. Lift up your hands and just begin to praise Him for His faithfulness to you. Begin to thank Him for what you have. It may not be much, but it’s enough! Let the Lord satisfy you with long life and show you His salvation.
