So now I’ll lie down and sleep like a baby—then I’ll awake in safety, for you surround me with your glory. Even though ten thousand dark powers prowl around me, I won’t be afraid. Psalm 3:5-6 TPT
I love these verses because I’ve prayed them so many times. Even when the doctor says something scary, “I’ll lie down and sleep like a baby—then I’ll awake in safety, for you surround me with your glory. Even though ten thousand dark powers prowl around me, I won’t be afraid.”
When the economy looks seriously bad, I say it again. When I feel outnumbered and everyone is calling with evil reports, I say it again.
Here are more of my favorite verses I keep in my arsenal:
His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm. Psalm 91:4
God, your wraparound presence is my shield. You bring victory to all who are pure in heart. Psalm 7:10
So next time you’re tempted to fear, speak these words out loud and know that God will never leave you or forsake you. He’s as close as the mention of His name. Jesus!
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6: 6-7 NKJV
Do we do this? Is this a picture of our homes today? How many of us can honestly say that we spend time ‘diligently’ teaching our children about the Lord? Are we planting the Word in our hearts and in the hearts of our children? We cannot pass the blame if we’ve not done what God has ordered.
First and foremost, our children whatever their age may be, must see us seeking the Lord with all our hearts. When we do, the fruit of the Spirit will be evident in our lives and our children will hunger for the fruit of it. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Thats right! The more we seek the face of God, the more we will see the fruit of the Spirit evident in our homes. We can be good people, have lots of money, a nice home, a good job, be honest and reputable, but if our lives are a wreck, our children are unruly, we’re unfaithful, divided and our homes have no peace. What sort of testimony is that?
I’m not saying that bad things don’t happen to good people. I’m saying that good people can have bad things happen and still walk in peace because they know the Word and trust in the Lord! Their foundation is stable and secure. They’re like a tree planted deep thats not uprooted at the first major storm that comes by. They know that just because they’re a Christian doesn’t mean that life will have no battles, they’re just prepared for that battle.
When they read Psalm 91, they see themselves in that picture. Stable, secure, covered, saved from hidden traps and deadly sickness. They know that when they speak the Word over their situation regardless of what they see in the natural, it’s a done deal in the supernatural and they rest in that.
Thank you Lord for a heart that follows hard after you. You’ve got my back! my front! my sides! You’re all around me, above me, beneath me (I’m doin the happy dance right now!). What a good and faithful Father you are. Help me to always be a finely tuned instrument You can play. One that brings a sweet sound of worship and praise before Your throne and challenges others to do the same. For Your glory and in the name above all names, Jesus. Amen
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.” Mark 2:22
This is what I hear God doing for His people.
“I have said it before and will say it again, I am doing a new thing in the earth. Old things have passed away and behold all things have become new. There will be no more old in the new place. Only new things will pop up, birthed by old seed, new things will begin to emerge.
“Out of what some have spoken faithfully for years with no understanding, those seeds will birth things and you will look in awe as the words you’ve spoken are actually realized. When they come, all those around you will be amazed at what they behold.
“You will hear them say, “This is totally unexpected! I never saw this coming! I’ve never seen anything like this before!” It will be ‘old things’ on steroids.
“Prepare yourself. Prepare yourself for this new season, this new season of new. It will hit you like a succession of waves, and wave upon wave upon wave, will take you into the deep and you will swim in my presence unafraid. You will begin to birth new things that you’ve been calling out and haven’t seen yet.
“What I’m about to release on you will bury you alive! You’ll try to get your breath, and I will say to you, “My child, you can breathe in this place of blessing! Breathe child, breathe, for I have placed my breath in you and will show you how to function in this.”
“The weather in the deep place, will create waters from the torrential downpour I will pour out. But I will strengthen you and I will uphold you with my mighty right hand. Haven’t I told you in times past that you were thinking too small? And you replied, “Increase my vision. Help me see from Your perspective.” My child, what I’m about to do in and through you will shake the very foundations on which you stand. Is anything to hard for Me?”
Today, may your perspective be changed to see as God does.
Psalm 115:14-15 TPT, “God himself will fill you with more. Blessings upon blessings will be heaped upon you and upon your children from the maker of heaven and earth, the very God who made you!”
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
I know I’ve just used this verse, but I had another thought and wanted to share.
Regardless of what your enemies have planned for you, the only way you give them power is with your mouth. When I agree with a bad report, I’ve conceded to that report. I’ve basically saying that when I speak what I feel, I’m focusing on those feelings and giving power to them.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
Know this, God’s plans are to prosper you and give you great success. He is for you not against you. Turn a deaf ear to the lies of your adversary and speak in agreement with God’s Word. It never fails!
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19
When I read this verse this morning, two things came to mind; He gave me authority over the enemy, and second, how am I using that authority?
Adam was given all authority over all things and gave it away (Genesis 1:28). What am I doing with my authority after Jesus gave gave it back? What does “nothing shall by any means hurt you” really mean and why do we experience so much pain and suffering?
I believe that regardless of the battle I face, God has always provided me with sufficient power and authority to overcome. Perhaps you’re finding this a hard pill to swallow, but hold on just a minute, hear me out. Just because I don’t talk about my battles doesn’t mean I don’t have them. Daily I face a variety of battles. Sometimes I grow weary and just want to give up, but I don’t. If I’m weary, I call out to one person who will agree with me, encourage me, speak the Word to me. If there is no one around, I pull up the Word and begin to read, anything, everything and I encourage myself until I’m strong again.
When thoughts come to my mind that don’t line up with the Word, I quickly dismiss them and speak out loud the promises God has given me, I speak His Word just like the one written in the beginning of this post. It’s my authority the devil is after and I’m absolutely not giving that away without a fight to the death!
When I rest assured in my covenant promises, the enemy can’t take away what is hidden in my heart. He can’t take my authority unless I willingly give it away. How do I give it away? With my words. If I can’t keep my mouth from agreeing with Satan’s lies, make firm my resolve and only speak what the Word says, if I constantly speak the thoughts the enemy puts in my head then I’m giving it away!
It’s easy to speak about the pain, the sickness, the trial. I sat on the ship one morning listening to the conversation of some older couples sharing every ailment they had as if it were a badge. What kind of testimony is that? I told Walt if he ever hears me begin to do that, shoot me! Put duct tape over my mouth! Anything!
Start rejoicing before your healing manifests, and again I say rejoice! That’s your testimony. You speak the miracle of God’s grace not the symptoms of your ailments.
Oh Father, forgive me for treating the sacrifice of Your Son and everything He won back for me with such disdain. I’m so sorry. Help me not to take for granted the place of victory You’ve given me. I rest in that! Every battle belongs to You, that means You win, and since I’m hidden in You, I win too! I love you Lord. You, my Father, love, protect and provide for me everything I need for life and godliness (II Peter 1:3).
Awake, O north wind! Awake, O south wind! Breathe on my garden with your Spirit-Wind. Stir up the sweet spice of your life within me. Spare nothing as you make me your fruitful garden. Hold nothing back until I release your fragrance. Come walk with me as you walked with Adam in your paradise garden. Come taste the fruits of your life in me. Song of Songs 4:16 TPT
Oh God that I may be fruitful in all I do today. Your breath on the garden of my life makes everything come to fruition in it’s own perfect time. May others around me reap the benefits of what I’ve planted. May the harvest be great and the fruit be sweet, bringing nourishment to all who eat of it.
As I walk out my day, may others smell the fragrance of your faithfulness. May they experience the manifestation of your Love. Walk with me as you walked with Adam, speak to me, Holy Spirit. Lead me into all truth and give me discernment and wisdom in all I do and say. May those who feast at the table, enjoy bounty and be extremely satisfied.
Come back! Return to us, O maiden of his majesty. Dance for us as we gaze upon your beauty. Why would you seek a mere Shulamite like me? Why would you want to see my dance of love? Because you dance so gracefully, as though you danced with angels! Song of Songs 6:13 TPT
Anyone who has ever seen me dance will say that graceful isn’t a word that describes me. But I look different in the eyes of Jesus. He sees me as a graceful dancer, And my husband can’t get enough looks at my beautiful face. So thankful He has always seen me so. He has mirrored the Love of Jesus to me for 47 years.
My dance is unto the Lord this morning. When I close my eyes and stand in His throne room, surrounded by angels, glowing in my garment of white shimmering silk, I lose myself in His presence. I’m surrounded by His glory and move with the beat of angel wings.
He delights in my praises. I hear His voice as I move toward Him, “Come closer, my bride. Let me touch you in your place of pain and turmoil. Let me be all you need and more. See My provision arriving on mighty horses and chariots. Even the camels are loaded with things you’ve asked for long ago. I’ve heard and it’s coming. Dance for me, for you cause my heart to be filled with joy.”
Dear Lord, speedily heal my sister’s and brother’s that they may minister out of victory, not hurt. Give them beauty for ashes and joy for their heaviness. Cause sorrow and mourning to flee away. May Your presence bring them everything they need in every area of their life. Change them from glory to glory until they are forever moving to Your music.
If you’ve ever experienced identity theft, you’ll have a deeper understanding of what this post is about. Listen closely to what God says about you and put a stop to the lies your enemy wants you to believe.
When Jesus was in the wilderness in prayer and fasting, Satan consistently attacked His identity. Read Luke 4 and you’ll see for yourself. Each time, Jesus put a stop to the argument with the Word of God. Why, because it’s important to speak truth not only to your enemy, but to yourself.
Create hedges to safeguard your heart.
So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 TPT
2. You can’t skate through life and avoid trials and tribulations. Jesus went to the wilderness to be tested. He knew and still went.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NKJV
So next time you feel your identity is at risk, sit down with the Word and learn whose child you are and what He says about you, than use that Word to combat the lies of your enemy. He can’t refute the Word of God.
But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it! 1 Peter 2:9-10 TPT
Have you ever been accused of being ‘too spiritual’? Or told that ‘you talk about God too much’? I have, as have many of you. I can understand these statements if I were simply religious minded, more about keeping the letter of the law than true relationship with Jesus. Or if my goal was to point out what people do ‘wrong’ rather than pointing out what Jesus did right.
But while I’m in the school of the Holy Spirit and He’s always showing me things, I get excited and want to share. I get that I can’t share everything with everybody, so I now share with those closest to me or post it on Facebook for those fellow treasure hunters who desire to go deeper. We need each other!
As I read Romans 8:5-6 TPT, Paul explained this very clearly. “Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.”
I don’t know about you, but the ‘life and peace’ offered is what I need! The saying; ‘You’re so heavenly minded, you’re no earthly good,’ is a load of horse pucky. You are what you eat! What you feed on will lead you toward God or away from Him. I’m pretty sure that the more Paul pursued God, the fewer people related to what he had to say.
Verses 18-19, Paul applies the frosting on the cake by saying, “I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us. The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!”
Pick me! Pick me, Father! Unveil Your glory in me! I want a front row seat in class. No distractions as I read and listen, my eyes glued on You as You lead me into all truth. My life is not my own, for the price You paid was for all of me, not a part of me. Whatever that looks like, I’m learning to yield. I will listen to Your Spirit within me and put my flesh on the cross so that You may be glorified in me. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalms 37:23-24 NLT
Have you taken the time to hear God speak to your spirit this morning? What has He asked of you and what was your answer? Are you willing to go where He leads or are you insisting on making your own way? When He speaks, you must listen to what He says. It’s too important to just leave.
It’s never enough to just sense His presence and go on our merry way. He requires something that we must be willing to surrender– our will and way. When we do, we will be more fulfilled then we’ve ever been.
Yes Lord. That’s my answer. A thousand times yes. Direct my steps as I watch Your feet. For You alone fulfill the longing of my heart.
