When You Feel You Have No More To Give

images

When he saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion, because they seemed weary and helpless, like wandering sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36 TPT

I wonder if Jesus ever got tired of ministering? I mean He was human and I know there have been times as a human, I’ve been tired of constantly giving out! Oh, I love helping people, totally love encouraging others, but even I have my limits.

Yesterday as I shared the moment my pastor called me when I was in crisis, I began thinking about how timely that was and wondered, how many times have I been someone else’s timely answer? I think a key here is knowing when to give and when to receive. It revitalizes me to give, but it revitalizes others to give as well.  And being sensitive to the Spirit in what we should be giving is HUGE!

So continuing yesterdays story…..

As I was leaving the driveway, I called the nurses station and asked how Walt was doing. Her good news set my heart at ease and I continued onto the birthday party.

That night, I was celebrated by a group of ladies who honored me and lavished love on me.  I was blown away by their gift, but I was even more blown away by how each one of them freely allowed God to work through them. They laughed, they talked and encouraged me. What began as the worst birthday ever, ended up being the best birthday ever.

In the morning, I sat in the same place I do every morning, where I am this morning, in His presence, reading His Word and allowing Him to speak in and through me. My thoughts were on Walt and I remember thinking, I really need to get up to see him before I go to work. Just as quickly as I thought that, I heard the Spirit say, “Not this morning! Stay here with Me and let me show you My perspective.”

Sitting in His presence, He began to give me a vision of how He saw Walt. I could choose to come into agreement with what He showed me or stay in agreement with what I saw in the natural. My choice. Guess what I chose?

Wednesday I dropped him off to work for the first time in a month and a half.  I see him at 100%, because the Word of the Lord was, “He will run and not be weary, he will walk and not faint. I will renew Walt just as the eagles rest and are renewed. I have purpose for Walt. He will fulfill his purpose in the earth.”

Next week, I’m going to share with you about allowing God’s perspective to change yours.

Until Then,

Do it Anyways!

Unknown-1

Have you ever been invited to a party and just didn’t feel like partying? For whatever reason, everything in you just didn’t want to people that day. I’ve been there!

A month ago, Walt and I found ourselves in an unfamiliar place, facing unfamiliar things. It was on our birthday and I’d spent most of the day at the hospital with him. I had taken him his favorite breakfast, but he wouldn’t eat it. He seemed to be stuck in a weird place where I couldn’t rouse him from.

Around 2pm, the doctor came in and she began to ask him questions that he had problems responding to. Finally I couldn’t be quiet anymore. “Please take him off these pain medications. He’s not used to taking any and I believe they’re really messing him up. This man is not my husband! He’s unresponsive to the therapists, he can’t function, heck, before this all happened, he worked 40 hours. Take him off these narcotics! He doesn’t need them! He doesn’t take anything but ibuprofen at home!”

She listened and gave the orders to the nurses. I helped him back into bed, gave him a kiss and told him I was headed home. The truth was, I couldn’t take it anymore. It had been 10 days and the more I stayed and watched him, the more discouraged and hopeless I was becoming.

I drove through the carwash and called a friend and began to sob. I explained what was going on and she began to encourage me to play some worship music and worship. I’m not going to lie–even though I’m a worshipper, there are times I just don’t feel like it and this was one of those times.

I went home, fell on my bed, curled into a fetal position and just let myself cry. It was the first time since the fall that I’d even allowed myself to go there. I called out, “Jesus! I need you! I can’t do this without you! Help me!”

Just then my phone rang, it was my pastor. He began to speak into me and pray for me. I felt the breath of God infuse me with strength and felt that this was going to be a pivotal day for Walt and I. Guess what, it was!

I jumped into the shower to get ready to go to a dinner party a sweet friend put on for our birthday. I didn’t feel like going, but I knew I needed to. Even though I didn’t feel like worshipping, I began to sing songs of love to the Lord and I thanked Him that His hand was on us and as always, He was providing for us and watching over us. As always, I sensed His Spirit coursing through my body and began to proclaim His Word.

Tomorrow, I will continue the story, but for now let me encourage you by saying, it doesn’t matter if you feel like it. Do what you know to do and God will meet you there.

Until Tomorrow,

Conformity vs Morality

Unknown-1

Don’t be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

What if someone gave you a glass of water to drink and just as you’re about to chug it down they say, “By the way, there’s a little bit of poopoo in it, but what’s a little in such a big glass!” Would you drink it? Yet we think nothing of putting corrupt things in our minds thinking it’s only a little bit, how badly can it affect me?

What’s wrong with saying that? What’s so bad about doing that? You’re just old fashioned! Everybody is doing it this way. We’ve all heard it, some of us have even said it, but just because the masses are doing it, does it make it right?

I remember when my girls were growing up and they’d beg to go alone to the mall to hang out with friends and I’d say no. In typical teen fashion, they’d get in a huff, beg and beg, hoping I’d cave to the pressure. They would say, “All our friends are going. We’ll be the only ones that can’t go.” I’d come back with, “Just because everyone is doing it doesn’t make it right. Besides I’m pretty sure there are a lot of parents who aren’t letting their kids go. Even so, you’re not going!”

When I was about 9 or 10, there was a new family that moved in down the road from us. She was a little risk taker and being with her was fun. There was just one problem, she liked to lie. Before I knew it, I began repeating the same behavior and my dad tanned my hide for it. Then he asked me who I’d been hanging around with. When I told him, he forbid me from playing with her again. I didn’t get it at the time. I thought he was just being mean, but I’m pretty sure he was passing on a lesson I’d never forget.

Parents, if you question the behavior of your child’s friends, protect them from bad choices while you still maintain some semblance of control. Teach them the difference between right and wrong so that they will recognize it in the future. It doesn’t mean they won’t make mistakes, but do what you can while you can.

And you, it’s ok to guard yourself from bad influences as well. If you’re asked to compromise your standards or values because everyone else is, walk away! Set a new trend by walking in a different direction than the rest of the world around you. I’d much rather enter heaven alone than to enter hell with millions of followers.

Stand Strong,

Sandy G

Time For Change

images

I’ve never been one to keep things the same. In fact, doing my weekday morning blogs to encourage believers is a real stretch for me. Routine has it’s place in the shower, but in the presence of God, the only thing routine is that we actually go in. How often we go and how we enter is never the same.

I know David said that we are to enter into His presence with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, but isn’t that what we do when we enter into any Kings presence? Don’t we always come with utmost reverence, respect and bearing gifts?

Here’s a suggestion; mix things up a little bit. There are times all I do is play and sing worship songs, allowing the presence of God to permeate my space and course through His temple. At other times, I read verse after verse, chapter after chapter, allowing His Word to breathe fresh into me.

At times He speaks softly with a thought, a truth or an answer to a question I posed yesterday. At times it’s while listening to someone teach or a short video I feel impressed to pull up and watch. Whatever I feed into my spirit, the hunger for truth is satisfied and I’m amazed once again at His deep, abiding love.

So while there is so much forced change in the world today, in how we shop, greet one another and gather together, remember to change the way you approach Father God. He’s not a far away God who shakes a disapproving finger at you when you step on a crack. No, He’s a loving God who has no limits or boundaries.

He said, “You will seek me an you will find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) Does that sound like a far off God? He just wants you to come after Him, so come. Any way you want!

In your pajamas, laying in your bed, with bed-head and holes in your stockings. Unkempt and unclean, depressed and afraid, just come. His Spirit will wrap around your spirit and breathe into you peace and joy. He’ll wipe away your tears, your doubts and fears, simply because you came.

Enjoy The Presence,

Sandy G

What Has You Stressed?

images

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life. Philippians 4:6 TPT

When pressures come at you from every angle and your needs become greater than your source, you’re staring at the problem again, even though you tell yourself, ‘God is bigger! He has this!’ the battle wages for control of your thoughts. ‘Is God really going to do that?’ ‘Did He really say that to you?’

Sound familiar? Trust me, we’re all under attack in the same way because satan is on assignment to deceive! He did it to Eve in the garden, “Did God really say that?” But James 4:7 says it like this: “So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.”

So I encourage you, child of God! Yes thats right, you are His child with full access to HIS treasure and resources, stand your ground! Don’t give an inch! When the devil pushes you, push him back! God has trained us to stand against those giants in our lives, so lets all band together as a mighty army, praying for one another.

I speak strength into you my friend. Put on your armor, gather your weapons (the Word) and lets quench us some fiery darts today! Be strong in the Lord!

Until Tomorrow,

Sandy G

Friday’s Agreement

I wanted to begin my post this morning with a reminder of the blessings of the Lord. Our agreement with His Word is our Amen or ‘So be it’. Things change dramatically when we cast our vote with the Lord. Regardless of how things look, He is for you and your children and their children.

I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately because things have been so crazy around us. I believe it’s super important to stay focused on His Kingdom, His way of doing and being and call that into the earth. We are God’s children, His sons and daughters, speakers of His Word in the earth. If we’re not in agreement with that, what is there?

Our hope is in Him. Our faith is in Him. Our trust must remain in Him. Regardless of how  things look in this earth, don’t displace your hope, faith and trust. Don’t let your foundation turn to rubble simply because you’ve stepped out from under His covering and protection.

Like the old song, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.” Placing your trust in doctors-shifting sand. Placing your trust in God-solid foundation. Placing your trust in employers-shifting sand. Placing your trust in God-solid foundation.

There are many of us who have had our trust in the wrong things for so long and now that things look bad, we’re trying to scramble back up on the Rock before we’re washed out to sea. But beloved, the first thing we need to do is to repent. Repent for unbelief. Repent for not trusting Him before there was ever a need.

I see so many in the world that are like the ones in Noah’s day. They were warned this day was coming, they were told Jesus is coming soon and the days are on us when you’ll need to know how to trust and have faith in God. They ignored the warnings, thinking they had all the time in the world. Their trust was in the world and it’s systems and now they don’t know what to do.

Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for. Glorify God with all your wealth,
honoring him with your very best, with every increase that comes to you. Then every dimension of your life will overflow with blessings from an uncontainable source of inner joy! Proverbs 3:5-10 TPT
Until Next Time,

Got Hope?

images

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:3-5

What a mouth full of hope in these verses. I can’t say I’ve always rejoiced when I’ve run into problems & trials. Some of them were so big, I kept running into them and I looked like I’d been in a train wreck. How many can relate to that?

Over the years and through some serious recovery time, I’ve learned that instead of tripping over those obstacles, placing them together created building blocks that enabled me to climb to such great heights where the views were breathtaking. Seeing them from Gods vantage point put the circumstance in true perspective.

He’s always bigger, always greater than any problem we can or cannot see. Its not what you see that makes the difference, it’s how you see it. What you see shouldn’t overwhelm you when you know who is in control, we are! Ask God how to pray, what to speak and do it. He gave us authority over all the power of the enemy.

Have I lost some of you right there? Do you remember that what Adam lost, Jesus took back and gave us our authority back? It is by His shed blood that we have power over the plans and schemes of the enemy. The Spirit of God lives on the inside of us, therefore everything we need to overcome is already available to us.

No sickness or disease is greater than the power in you. No virus is greater than the power in you. No lack is greater than the power in you. Nothing, absolutely nothing has power greater than the power in you. It’s only possible when you believe, because Jesus said, nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible to those who believe.

Come on up and share the view! Spending time in His presence brings the needed perspective to not just get you through, but to give others hope too.

Until Tomorrow,

Sandy G

Liberating Truth

images

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:23-24

I’ve struggled with this scripture for years. How can you believe and have unbelief at the same time? Because our mind is where the devil plays. He plays out movies of the most horrendous accident with your children in the car. He plants doubt: “Others may get their healing, but you won’t”. So even though this father came to Jesus for his sons healing knowing that Jesus COULD heal him, I believe the unbelief part was, WOULD He?

Satan is constantly trying to convince us that we’re not good enough, holy enough, ‘Christian’ enough, but the grace to heal doesn’t come by our works, it’s a gift and there’s only one way to get a gift, just receive it.

Walking around sick doesn’t glorify God, walking in health does. Walking in fear doesn’t glory God, peace does. No wonder satan tries so desperately to keep us sick & broke with words that reflect our thought life.

My mom used to say, “If you can’t find something good to say, don’t say anything at all.” Speaking what you see isn’t faith, speaking things that be not as though they are, that is faith. Jesus said to SAY to impossible things (virus’s), “Be gone!” and don’t doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say is done and it will happen. (Mark 11:23)

We say it, then we doubt, thats being double minded and James 1:8 says we’re unstable in everything. So how do I win over my thought life? Be renewing my mind in the Word of God. Bringing my thoughts under subjection of the Word.

The Lord showed me that if I measure all my thoughts with the Word, I will know which ones to keep and which to throw away. See why it’s so important to know the Word? John 8:32 says, “You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you free.” There is nothing more true than the Word of God.

Lord, I purpose to keep my thoughts in check. Philippians 4:8 NLT “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Remember this: We serve a ‘more than enough’ God, not a ‘just enough’ God, and he’s no respecter of persons.

Until Tomorrow,

Rise up

images

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

We could go on and on and add our own things to this list but the point is well made; NOTHING can keep us apart from Gods big love for us. So I encourage you my dear friend; speak that to the mountain standing in your way, to the Goliath you face, your massive mound of debt, the cancer eating away at your body, whatever it is, NOTHING can stand between you and the LOVE that delivers, sets right, heals, forgives and forgets. His LOVE is enough.

Rise up worshipping warriors and decree healing to the bruised and broken, strength to the weary, peace to those in turmoil. The enemy is real but victory belongs to the King. Let us arise and declare the power of our Lord. Let us speak life and not death, blessing and not cursing.

He is our place of safety, we will trust in Him. We won’t be afraid of the terrors that come during the night. You won’t fear the attacks that come during the day. We won’t have to fear sickness that attacks in the darkness. We won’t have to fear the plague that knocks at our door. His blood covers our homes and cannot cross it.

Don’t allow fear or the reports you hear determine your outcome. Remember that a thousand may fall dead at your side, ten thousand may fall near your right hand but NO harm will come to you. You will see with your own eyes how God punishes the sinful people but that is not you. The Lord is the one who keeps you safe.

So let the Most high God be like a home to you, then no harm will come to you. No terrible plague will come near your home. The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you, they will lift you up in their hands.

Until Tomorrow,

Sandy G

Be a Dweller

Unknown-1
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (whose power no foe can withstand).  I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I (confidently) trust! Psalm 91:1-2 Amplified
According to dictionary.com, that word ‘dwell’ means; to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside; to linger over, emphasize, or ponder in thought, speech, or writing. In other words, it’s a permanent place of residence, not a temporary vacation spot.
I’ve heard and seen many people quoting Psalm 91 during the recent virus concerns and the panic and fear that has accompanied it. Shoot, I’ve even used it myself on several occasions and our pastor preached about it a couple weeks ago. But can I camp out on this word ‘dwell’ for a moment this morning?
Psalm 91 speaks of a people who has made the Lord their dwelling place. His covenant promise of protection and health is due to that very simple word. Where you choose to live and who you choose to live in covenant with provides that protection. It’s not something you can name and claim, it’s where you must remain.
Are you following me? This Psalm has been my go-to chapter when something would hit my family or life, when our income was threatened, when our health took a hit, when our children were stupid. I didn’t just speak it in crisis, I memorized it, became acquainted with Who it was written about and what it meant to dwell in His presence.
It’s not about what I can get from Him while doing the minimal requirements. It’s about staying in His presence, surrounded by His glory, knowing that regardless of what I face, He is well able to keep me. Hearing Him call angels on my behalf to surround me and keep me in all my ways. That’s where I choose to remain.
It’s in the good times or the bad times, I remain in His presence. Whether it’s raining or sunny, I remain in His presence. I’m not going to leave, ever. One day in His presence is better than a thousand days in the best vacation spot anywhere.
He has placed His oil of gladness in my heart and lit a fire in me that can’t be quenched. That fire is meant to attract the world to Him so that they too can learn to dwell with Him.
What about you? Are you a dweller or a vacationer? Have you made your home with Him, where His reality is more real than your own? Are you trusting in Him to deliver you and continuing to do what the Father sent you to do or are you hiding in fear, waiting in dread?
Until Tomorrow,
Sandy G
