Friends Who Carried Me

Mark 2:1-4 NASB2020
When Jesus came back to Capernaum a few days later, it was heard that He was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer space, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. And some people came, bringing to Him a man who was paralyzed, carried by four men. And when they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and after digging an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralyzed man was lying.

I woke early this morning with a very dear friend on my mind who will have heart surgery this morning. I sent Psalm 91 to them as a reminder of their covenant and began to speak over each person involved in the procedure. There’s nothing too difficult for God.

What followed, was a conversation with God regarding my own journey and the healing that has come in the process.

Sometimes life hands you things that you’re too weak to carry. When that happens, God sends you friends. Friends who are patient reminders of your covenant promises. Who pick you up after chemo and drive you home.

Radical faith friends who tear the roof off the building just to get you in front of Jesus.

I asked God, what if I didn’t have the faith to believe for my healing? He replied, “That’s where friends step in.”

Those times I was overwhelmed with circumstances I couldn’t control. The times I cried from pain, hopelessness and discouragement, a friend would call or text a video or verse, just enough of a rope to hold onto to get me to the next day.

This month I received 3 good reports, no more tumors, no trace of cancer in my stomach and no active cancer cells in my blood.

This is why I still post. I want to always be that friend for others who need encouragement to press on. To know you’re not alone even if it feels that way.

Life can be really sucky sometimes, but allow a friend to carry you when you need them. Let them rejoice with you when Jesus says, “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet, and go home.”
