Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then He will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. Proverbs 3:9-10
Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed. Proverbs 28:27
Let’s remember this as we enter this Christmas season. Always put God first in all you do and you’ll never lack for any good thing. Instead of buying for those who already have, find a family who have lost part of their income and make it a good Christmas for them.
Adopt several families as a church and give them gift cards to local grocery stores so they can get what they truly need.
While you’re doing your grocery shopping, watch the faces of those around you. It’s easy to see the telltale signs of worry, those who pick up packages of meat and put them down because the price is too high. Allow your heart to be softened to the needs around you.
Ask God for discernment and a new sensitivity. We must stop thinking of ‘me and mine’ and think about those in need we pass by everyday. Make shopping a fun thing this year.
Have fun being a blessing!
