Remember Your Blessing

So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Philippians 4:8 TPT

I was talking with a young lady last night who was dealing with all sorts of self doubt and anxious thoughts. After a few minutes, she mentioned this verse and said, “I know! I need to think right thoughts.” But hey, that’s not always easy, is it? It’s easy to say it to someone, but when you’re going through something that consumes your focus, it’s not as easy to snap your fingers and just do it.

As the conversation continued, I remembered something she told me about last year. She had developed a habit of writing down her blessings and putting them in a jar called, ‘the blessing jar’. Whenever she faced a trial or a need, she would pull out a paper and read it, reminding herself of how God had provided for her at that time. I suggested she do the same with her self-worth. Write down what the Father says about her and when she’s facing these thoughts, pull it out and read it out loud.

You see, when you’re in the middle of a trial, it’s not always the first thing you think on because you’re too focused on the trial. We’ve all heard the saying, what you feed grows, but what you starve, dies. It’s the same with your thoughts. That’s why Paul mentioned this in his writings to the Philippians. Keep your thoughts focused on right things and then he tells you what those right things are.

So write down your answers to the accusations of the enemy so that when you’re facing your giant, it won’t intimidate you anymore. When he says, “You can’t do anything right.” Respond with, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When he says, “You will never win over that addiction!” Remind him, “I’m redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. I have covenant with Him and His strength is made perfect in my weakness.”

Some of those notes need to read, “I am a child of God’s and He loves me!” “He said He will never leave me nor forsake me. He lives in me!” “He’s given me power over all the power of the enemy and nothing will by any means hurt me.” “No weapon formed against me will prosper and every tongue that rises against me in judgement, He will condemn because it’s my heritage!” “He took those stripes on His back for my healing. Sickness and disease is under the curse and because of Jesus, I don’t have to have this anymore!” “My steps are ordered by the Lord and He delights in the plans He has for me!”

Stop allowing the devil to intimidate and bully you into believing a lie. Know who you are and Who you belong to. Stand up and fight back against his lies and remind him he’s defeated! He may not leave instantly, but if you keep on speaking the Word to him, he’ll pack up and leave until a later date and try again. Be relentless in your resistance and he will flee. Be totally convinced of the power you possess and don’t be afraid to use it.

I’m More Than a Conquerer,
