Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them… Matthew 7:10-12.
God wants us to know Him as a giving God, but in order to know Him that way, we must give Him something to work with. He doesn’t hold on with a death grip, like we do when He asks us to give something. ‘How much more?’ That question right there begs for an answer.
Just how much more? I can’t tell you the many times we sacrificed to help our children. I would gladly fast a week so that they had enough food to feed themselves and their family. That pales in comparison as to how much more God wants to give to us. The difference is, He doesn’t have to do without, He owns it all.
There is absolutely no way to out give God, it’s impossible to do because it just keeps multiplying and coming back in superabundance. God calculates our seed differently. He has his own math and we haven’t quite figured it out yet. One thing I do know, He loves a cheerful giver, so when you give, put a smile on your face and be like your Father. Give like you have an endless supply, because you do.
Until Tomorrow,
