You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return–in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak. Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning. Mark 13:35-36
It’s not up to your pastor to keep watch for you while you go out and do your own thing. It’s not your parents responsibility to watch, it’s for you to watch. YOU watch. It’s up to you to be ready.
Most of us give more attention to being ready for a job interview than we do for the final return of Jesus Christ. We’re so caught up in our own agenda that we forget He gave us an assignment before He left. “Go make disciples!” He said. “Heal the sick and raise the dead!” He said.
If it was your wedding day, what’s the first thing you’d do when you got up in the morning? Take inventory. Check the time. Make sure everything and everyone is in place. Would you talk with your fiancé? Tell them how excited you are to spend the rest of your life with him/her?
Get dressed! You know the wedding is soon so don’t be caught unaware. You’ve been warned! You can’t just say you didn’t know because you do! Don’t live like there’s no responsibility. Jesus said to be ready, so you putting it off for tomorrow doesn’t mean He’ll wait for you.
Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be in the wedding party. I don’t want to be a guest at the event. I want be a small working part of the bride herself. I want to hear the call of the bridegroom
“Come,” says the Holy Spirit and the Bride in divine duet. Let everyone who hears this duet join them in saying, “Come.” Let everyone gripped with spiritualthirst say, “Come.” And let everyone who craves the gift of living water come and drink it freely. “It is my gift to you! Come.”
As the old song says: “People get ready, Jesus is coming soon we’ll be goin home. People get ready Jesus is comin to take from the world His own.”
