What’s A Memorial

Unknown

But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.  For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always.  She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.  Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.” Mark 14:6-9

For those who don’t remember, this story is about a woman who was so thankful for the difference Jesus made in her life, she took the equivalence of a years salary in the form of a rare perfume and poured it on Jesus’ feet, drying them with her hair. Jesus saw the significance of it because He knew what would happen to him. He knew she was anointing His body for the burial that would soon happen.

Today is a day we have called, Memorial Day. It is to honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our country. What they did was an incredible selfless sacrifice and I for one am grateful to them and the families affected by their loss. Thank you from one who is grateful.

May we not forget all of our forefathers who gave their lives so that we could enjoy these freedoms. Never give up or give away something that someone else gave their lives so you could have it.

And thanks to God for giving us the freedoms we have. Not just in our nation, but in our lives. The Christians who gave their lives so that Word of God would remain in the earth. Those martyred for their faith whose blood cries out for justice.

Let’s take the time today to be thankful for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus being the one who will forever continue changing lives and making an impact on our families.

Until Tomorrow,

Sandy G
