“And now see what the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those nations when Israel left Egypt, so they went around them and did not destroy them. Now see how they reward us! For they have come to throw us out of your land, which you gave us as an inheritance. O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.” 2 Chronicles 20:10-12 NLT
All week long I’ve been stuck here in 2 Chronicles 20, hope you’re not bored yet. I was going to move onto something else but as I lay in bed I heard the Lord remind me of this part of the story. All those years ago when Joshua led the people to possess the land, these same enemies could have been routed out but God wouldn’t allow it. Why? Because God had this date in mind.
You see, God lives outside of our timeline, so He sees the end from the beginning and always has a plan for the very thing we fear the most. Trust the God who knows, sees and has a plan. Trust the God who is your source and supply. Trust the God who made provision for this very day when you decided to cry out to Him for help.
King Jehoshaphat did what all of us should do when faced with the worst case scenario; he fell on his face, tattled on his enemies, admitted he was powerless and didn’t know what to do, then asked for help.
And God did what He always does; responded. Super God to the rescue! For those who place their trust in Him will never be ashamed nor will their enemies triumph over them. Why? Because God loves those who look to Him for help. He loves us to lean on Him and trust in Him. He always has our best interest in mind.
So that big bill you just received; God has plans for that. That bad diagnosis you just got; God has plans for that. Whatever enemy you face today is simply God needing to prove that He wants to deliver you, heal you, provide for you and set you on the right course. Will you allow Him to be that for you?
Father, those bullies are trying to take what You gave me. There are too many of them and I’m powerless to take them, but I trust in You! I know You have plans for this. You have plans to show up and show them all who is on my side. Next time they’ll think twice before they mess with me. They will know that my Father is always watching out for me and ain’t NOBODY gonna mess with Your children! To You be all glory and honor and praise in Jesus’ name, Amen.
