I’m sure I’m not alone in my dreams of one day being a princess. To be rescued by prince charming, seated on a white horse, riding off into the sunset to live happily ever after.
In the book of Esther, we find a story of an orphan girl who was whisked off to the palace and prepared with hundreds of other beautiful girls, to possible be chosen to be queen. She must have been a real beauty, because Esther 2:17 & 18 says, “The king loved Esther more than any of the other young women, and she became his favorite. He approved of her more than any of the others. So King Xerxes put a crown on Esthers head and made her the new queen in place of Vashti. And the king gave a big party for Esther. It was for all his important people and leaders. He announced a festival in all the provinces and sent out gifts to people, because he was a generous king.”
I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
Our Prince awaits us. He will return to gather us to Himself and when He does, we will be the favored ones. God Himself will throw a party because He is a generous King. What a beautiful picture of the lavish love of God. Humility, love and compassion will cause people to take notice, but will heap on us the favor of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. As we demonstrate his glory to the world, may we shine in all he created us to be and bring hope to a lost and dying world. Its what we were born for!
