The Key To True Peace

Psalm 119:165, Those who love your teachings will find true peace. Nothing can make them fall.

Ah the joy of knowing. Knowledge definitely takes fear away and brings a peace. Have you ever freaked out about not having enough? For instance, you invite some friends to a small party and they ‘surprise’ you by bringing 8 other people. You speed dial Domino’s Pizza and the knowledge that more is coming brings peace.

Perhaps your bank account can’t handle the pile of bills in front of you. As you’re opening the mail, there’s an unexpected check that takes care of everything you need to pay. That knowledge brings peace, right? Well, the same is true about God’s Word. When you love reading and knowing His teachings, you have true peace, the kind that holds you up when your world is upside down.

Still not convinced? When you face lack and Philippians 4:19 comes to mind, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus,” that brings peace. You put your trust in His ability to keep His Word. When you’re in a crisis and don’t think you’ll make it, 2 Corinthians 12:9 comes to mind, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” If I didn’t love His Word enough to read it and store it in my heart, I would have nothing to draw from when I need it.

It’s like having those 8 extra people show up and your refrigerators empty and you don’t have the phone number to Domino’s. But when you know the truth, it sets you free. Remember when Jesus took the little lunch and fed 5000? You can take what you have, ask the Lord to bless it and it will feed your 8 extra guests and have leftovers. Nothing is too hard for the God who loves you.

Father, thank you for giving me a love for Your Word. Remember when I just didn’t want to read it? I liked any other kind of book but the Bible just didn’t interest me. Then one day I asked you to give me a hunger for Your Word and You did. Wow! It’s the best book ever written! I never knew it would end up being a resource for everything I would ever need in life. It goes beyond a good read, I couldn’t live without it. I’m thankful it’s hidden in my heart. If the actual book were taken away, I could close my eyes and remember because Your Spirit leads me into all truth. It’s always in my heart and in my mouth, this great treasure stored in earthen vessels. May everyone reading this today ask for a hunger for Your Word and when the receive it, may their lives be forever changed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
