Revelation 3:20 NLT; “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
I remember the days when I had a family to get ready for school and work every morning. Hectic doesn’t begin to describe my life back then! I had to get up a half our earlier just to get myself ready, then fix the family breakfast, make sure I had something out for dinner, fix lunches (sometimes done the night before), get the girls up (calling several times!), shoot, fitting devotions in there somewhere was utterly impossible, or so I thought. My 10 minutes in the shower became my devotion time. I just didn’t want to start my day without being thankful, without hearing His sweet voice.
Did you hear the Holy Spirit knocking on the door of your heart this morning? Did you hear his invitation to break the Bread of Life with you? Each and everyday, He stands waiting for you, hoping that today will be the day when you spend a few minutes, enjoying fellowship with Him. Find time to fit Him in today. Even if it’s the drive to work, the time it takes you to shower, make time for Him today. If you have time to check in on Facebook, you have time to check in with God. If you don’t change the way you always do things, you’ll never get anything else then what you already have.
Father, today I’m answering the door. I invite your presence into my day. Come sit at the island while I prepare breakfast for the kids. Stand with me while I fix my hair, put on my makeup and brush my teeth. My whole purpose for living is you, so please talk with me! Share with me the things that will help me make it through my day, things I may need to help someone else out today. As I meditate on Your Word, the Word I have hidden in my heart, I place a hedge of protection about myself and my family. I thank you that you give your angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways. Thank you that our steps are ordered by you and that you take great delight in the plans you have for us. I give you all the glory, the honor and praise for you alone are worthy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
