John 3:16-18 NASB2020
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
Pretty straightforward don’t you think? Believe. Nothing about earning your way into the pearly gates. Nothing about slipping up and if you don’t get a chance to repent prior to death, you missed it.
Nope! Simply believe.
A friend of mine recently attended a neighborhood bible study. There had been a 35 year old mother who struggled with addition to drugs and was back in rehab. One of the ladies stated that it was a shame because what she did would land her in hell.
Thankfully my friend spoke up and said something. I told her I was proud of her for speaking truth to some very religious people. I probably wouldn’t have been so nice. I would have mentioned what Jesus said to the men who were ready to stone the woman caught in adultery, “Let those without sin cast the first stone.”
If Jesus didn’t come to judge, what gives us the right? Jesus said to pray for each other. He also said to pray for those in authority over us. But all I hear is criticism, judgment and anger.
Father, forgive us. I intercede for those struggling with addiction issues. Whether to drugs, alcohol, food or sex. Saved or unsaved, may we offer the same grace and mercy you have extended to us.
I pray for president Trump. I speak blessings over him. Thank you for loving America enough to send someone who loves America and wants her to prosper. Protect him, his staff, his family and all of the armed forces who serve him.
I pray for our pastors and missionaries, those who are committed to teach us to love and be light to the lost. May revival fire fall all around the world.
One more thing I ask today, all who have lost loved ones and are grieving the empty place they’re faced with. Comfort them with your sweet Holy Spirit. May you fill the emptiness they’re experiencing right now.
It’s in Jesus name and for Your glory. Amen
