I’d Like You To Meet Wisdom

a

Proverbs 1:1-6 ERV; These are the proverbs of Solomon, the son of David and king of Israel.  They will help you learn to be wise, to accept correction, and to understand wise sayings.  They will teach you to develop your mind in the right way. You will learn to do what is right and to be honest and fair.  These proverbs will make even those without education smart. They will teach young people what they need to know and how to use what they have learned.  Even the wise could become wiser by listening to these proverbs. They will gain understanding and learn to solve difficult problems.  These sayings will help you understand proverbs, stories with hidden meanings, words of the wise, and other difficult sayings.

We have available to us an entire book in the Bible that will teach good morals, equality, wisdom, problem solving skills and how to apply them to life, but the majority of people have never read the book of Proverbs. Personally, I feel that this should be taught in schools, but definitely parents should teach this book to their children. Shoot, most parents need to learn right along with their kids. I know I needed these words when I was raising mine. Many of these were quoted to me by my mom and dad, their favorite one was Proverbs 22:15; Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him. Many of can quote that by heart.

Proverbs 1:20-33 introduces us to Wisdom and shows what happens when we refuse to listen, to have a teachable attitude. Verse 32 & 33 says; “Fools die because they refuse to follow wisdom. They are content to follow their foolish ways, and that will destroy them.  But those who listen to me will live in safety and comfort. They will have nothing to fear.” I encourage you to read the entire chapter and choose a verse to think on all day long. Continue reading it each day of the month in various translations until you get a firm grip on what it’s like to have a soft and pliable heart toward God. Read the next chapter and meditate that for a month. By the end of the year, see how much your life and attitude has changed.

Father, I long to know you and all of your wisdom. Cause me to be teachable so that I may always sit at your feet and learn. Forgive me for hard heartedness and stubbornness, for I know that those things only hurt me. May I be open to you and your Words as you lead and guide me into all truth. I give you all the glory and praise for you alone are worthy. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
