Happy Waiting!

Unknown

“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Romans 8:26-28 Message

Have you ever felt like your life is one big waiting game? Like the only room you occupy is a waiting room? “Wait here please!” “Please have a seat and wait to be called!” “Wait here and the doctor will be with you shortly.” “Please enjoy this ringtone while you’re waiting.”

Why is it that some of us have no problem waiting and others feel like it’s a slow death? My husband has no problem sitting for hours waiting for an appointment. He will get there an hour early and wait. Not me! I absolutely HATE waiting! I will get there 5 minutes early and expect to be seen at my appointment time. If you’re going to be late, call and let me know so I don’t have to wait for you.

Perhaps that’s why I loved reading this verse, “the moment we get tired in the waiting” because it gives me hope knowing I’m not alone. But it also gives me something to do while waiting, pray. Even when I don’t know what to pray, He prays for me, in me, through me.

He knows what I’m pregnant for, what lies within me that He needs to birth in the earth. He’s continually speaking, directing and leading me into my next, fanning the flames of desire and passion, reminding me of who I am and Whose I am.

And in the waiting, in the hardest of times when my frustration is intense and my patience wanes thin, He reminds me that He knows my destination and that it’s not all about constant movement, but resting in His presence and enjoying that part as well.

Perhaps you’re facing an intense situation right now and have grown weary in the waiting.  Take the time to turn off the noises and sit with Him. Turn off your phone, your ipad, your laptop, even your music and sit with your bible, pen and paper in the presence of the best friend you’ll ever have. Allow Him to give you rest, peace and joy in your waiting room.

God and I are having a really good time in meditation on this message, because He knows I loved/love The Little Rascals!! This was a personal message to me. Yes, I’m going to be selfish, this time. (LOL) My boy Spanky!!! WOW!
